Lots of types of tiny seahorses in Lembeh

tec week in bunaken Welcome to our weekly round-up #10, April 2014. We are seeing lots of types of tiny seahorses in Lembeh.

In Bunaken we have been a little quieter, but have been having some great diving especially with the turtles.

We said goodbye to two Divemaster Interns – Zara in Lembongan and Simon in Bunaken.

In TEC, we did some TEC try-its for our diveguides in Lembeh, and the MK6 rebreather was popular with guests trying this in Bunaken.

This week in Lembeh

pontohi seahorse lembeh We have had Blue Ring Octopus, Hairy Frogfish, Mimic Octopus, Lembeh Seadragons as well as all the usual Bargibanti, Severns & Pontohi Pygmy Seahorses. Thanks to Hui for this great shot of the Pontohi.

We also have had Kate extend her stay here to enjoy a bit of fun diving after finishing her Sidemount Specialty with Sandy.

This week in Bunaken

snapper in bunaken We have been a little quieter, but have been having some great diving especially with the turtles.

We have seen Painted Frogfish, Flying Gurnards, Napoleon Snake Eels, Cockatoo Waspfish, Bargibanti Pygmy Seahorses & Ornate Ghost Pipefish (This is sounding a little like Lembeh). Also White tip sharks, White Mouth Morays, Napoleon Wrasse, Spotted Garden Eels, Orangutan crabs, Turtles, Pontohi Pygmy Seahorses, Candy Crabs and lots of Nudis including Flabellinas & Nembrothas.

We said good bye to Simon our DMT and welcome Trine and Lisa. Thanks for all the help Simon!

Tec Corner

trying tec in lembeh Local dive guides Bayu, Heskiel and Doan from Lembeh tried sidemount mount diving. They were all keen to try new style of diving and learn more about new skills. As experienced guide Doan had no problem adapting into sidemount and he can already start see the benefits of using sidemount while his guiding.

Kate has finished Sidemount course and Search & Recovery course in Lembeh. She has done the S&R course using Sidemount to build better experience and understand the benefit of different configuration while in gauged to other activities.

For our DiveMaster Trainee Simon, two new guest from Sweden and DM Sarah from USA had splashed into the pool with Poseidon MK6 rebreather. The guest from Sweden had experience on rebreather but first time trying out the MK6 and his was quite happy with the size and weight of the unit.

Simon took the MK6 into the ocean for discover rebreather dive and had blast of silent diving! Simon wasn’t able to stop smiling after the dive!

zara dmt in lembongan CONGRATULATIONS to Zara, for completing her Divemaster Internship with us in Lembongan. Zara completed our 6-week internship across all three of our locations, starting in Bunaken with Dion and Tina and the sharks, popping over to Lembeh to continue with Matt and Dani and the super cool critters, before finally arriving in Lembongan to complete her training with Laurent, Karoline, Crowley and the mantas. simon divemaster in bunaken Simon left Bunaken last week after spending 4weeks doing his DM internship. Check out the pictures from Simons celebration night! In the meantime, Trine is currently with us in Bunaken and Lisa is spending some time in Lembeh before coming to Bunaken.
