This week in Bunaken… We have had no-fin races, treasure hunts and raspberry-blowing championships in the pool this week here in Bunaken. That can only mean one thing – PADI Bubblemakers!
Nils from Germany is here with his mum and dad and older brother and since he is 8 years old he has to wait another couple of years before he can do his Open Water course. Thanks to the Bubblemaker program he could spend some time in the pool with instructor Ina and DMT Philippa and play lots of underwater games. Like a lotĀ of kids he was a natural in the water and managed to beat Ina in the races and Philippa in the treasure hunt!
We have had a bit of the calm before the Easter storm, but the divers that has been here has had awesome dives with crystal clear water and everything from chunky white tip reef sharks and tunas to tiny little juvenile frog fish. It is also quite noticeable that spring is in the air (water) as we see a lot of eggs stuck to corals and substrate. Golden damsel fish and anemone fish fiercly protect their unborn while squid and cuttlefish has left their eggs and offsprings to fend for themselves. Soon there’ll be plenty of little baby fish all over the reef – time to bring out the macro lense.
Our DMTs Ross and Philippa continues to be busy and are just a couple of dives shy of finishing their PADI Divemaster courses. Today Ross arranged his Project AWARE assignment and had a beach clean up with some of the dive guides. 40 kgs of trash was collected, well done!
