Belongas, South Lombok this week we have been fortunate again to bump into the magnificent Mobula Rays. It is the end of the season and the Mobula rays have not been seen for a few weeks and for some reason they decided to show their faces again.
We encountered 8 rays in total, a small school but better than nothing. They are so graceful soaring through the water and most times they pass, turn around and come back. Often we see the same group at least 3 times during the dive.
Gili Sarang is the dive site where we see the Devil rays, a beautiful dive site full of colourful soft corals, big boulders, sandy bottoms and plenty of fish.
Alongside the devil rays have been seeing white tip reef sharks, bat fish, red tooth trigger fish, rock mover wrasse, clown frog fish, schools of barracuda and a few scalloped and great hammerheads.
It is coming up to the end of the month when the tides change due to the new moon which has already started to show its light. Stronger currents usually mean more and more pelagic!
Visibility this week has been around 15 meters, not bad for the beginning of the low season.
Fingers crossed for some surprises and gifts to come due to Christmas!!!!
