This week in Lembongan… The mola season may officially be over and it was not what we were all expecting but we have had a surprise turn of events this week, with our divers spotting 2 molas on 2 different dives through and another dive centre spotting 4 molas together on 1 dive. This is not to say that the mola season is coming late, but great to see that some are still around. Brent and Jackie have been with us in Lembongan for the last 3 weeks while completing a part of their Divemaster course. Both were very lucky during their last week in Lembongan to have the chance to spot 2 different molas on 2 different dives in 1 week. The first was spotted by Brent within the first few minutes of the dive during his decent. The mola was hanging out at around 15 meters, as the group was making their way down the reef.

The 2nd time was spotted a little deeper, and this one was off the reef, out in the blue at around 30 meters being cleaned by the reef fish.

Brent and Jackie have finished their time in Lembongan and will be heading over to Bunaken and Lembeh to complete the rest of their Divemaster internship.

All the molas we have seen this week have all been spotted in the north coast. Even the group of 4 together, that the other dive centre spotted, was in the north coast of Penida as well.

The water temperature has dropped a little, with some dives being around 24 degrees and the clear lines of thermoclines that we are so use to during the mola season have been more common. It is most likely due to this that we have seen a wee spike in mola sightings this week.
