Happy New Year from Two Fish Divers Bunaken. It’s been a busy few days over New Year in Bunaken with guests from all corners of the world enjoying great visibility, calm conditions and encounters with creatures big and small.
Beate rediscovered her passion for diving after a 13 year break. Gabriel and Nok finished the year by completing their Advanced Open Water course and Discover Scuba session respectively – great achievement, guys! Gabriel had been trying to entice his girlfriend under the water for a while and it looks like she may just become an Open Water Diver this year. Sadly, there wasn’t enough time left in their holiday to complete the whole course.
Of course, the team took the time to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a special meal, singing (mostly by the dive guides) and dancing (almost everyone!). We can’t imagine New Year without fireworks, so we made sure we had plenty of them ready when midnight came. Dive guides Fenly and Oke volunteered to light them up right on the beach in front of the resort. Thanks to a clear night, we also enjoyed seeing fireworks on the mainland in Manado.
All these celebrations didn’t stop us from diving on New Year’s Day, although a few opted for later starts. Melissa from the U.S. decided to start the new year by trying diving, both in the pool and in open water, and a white tip reef shark encounter in five meters convinced her to dive again the following day. Meantime, Juan Carlos finished his Open Water course with Dion on 1 and 2 January. He’d already completed theory and pool dives back home, leaving him the maximum amount of time to enjoy Bunaken’s walls. What a way to begin a new year!
We hope all of you had a great start to 2016 and are looking forward to seeing you in Bunaken again! If you’re keen to get (back) into the water, drop us a line.
