This week in Bunaken has seen a break in the stormy weather bringing welcome sunshine for the guests spending Christmas and new year on the Island. We also were able to see a small family of dolphins swimming along the shallow reef right in front of the resort while we were waiting on the boat for the last of the divers to surface. Everybody loves to see dolphins!
With many familiar faces spending Christmas and new year with us it has been, for many, an Island reunion. Ben and Loyane from Switzerland have spent so many times here that they are honorary Bunaken citizens. Jaqui from England has also been here countless times and still finds herself drawn back to the lush greenery and spectacular reefs. We are also lucky to be visited by the Two Fish big bosses Tina and Nigel along with kids Zack and Rebecca who are spending Christmas and new year on their old island home after moving away not long ago.
With the wind abating and the swell calming we are now able to access almost all of the local dive sites and are taking the opportunity to visit some of our favourites, Mandolin and the Lekuans. If you have been to Bunaken you might know the Lekuans as “turtle city”. If you haven’t been then you will definitely find that it lives up to its name when you come to visit with us.
With a few beers in the fridge, some lovely food in the kitchen, clean air, blue sky, clear water and full tanks, who could think of a better way to see in 2019 than here on the Island.
When is your next trip planned?
