Reading through travel guides, Amed in the North of Bali is often described as a quiet little town where the pace of life is a lot slower than in Denpasar or the other holiday towns in the South of the Island. But few people know that Amed actually has a very active nightlife scene with a lot of interesting spots and colorful characters…
Night Diving in Amed
Take for example the trio of Bumphead Parrotfish spotted by Phylis, Derek and Keith yesterday evening. Serenely swimming among the remains of the famous USAT Liberty shipwreck which sunk over 50 years ago, these impressive creatures weigh in at over 40 kilos and can reach a length of 1.5 meters, sporting an array of colors from green to pink. Or go to the Two Fish Amed House Reef, a mere 20 paces from the resort, and meet a group of iridescently shimmering cuttlefish dancing in the waves.
But nightlife can also be a lot rowdier here, as evidenced by the fight that broke out between two octopuses, spotted by Keith and Carla during the Night Adventure Dive of their Advanced Open Water course. Protecting his home among the rocks, puffing up and changing his hue to a vivid red, the defender managed to intimidate his curious rival into slinking away.
After such a long night out, it’s nice to relax and let the evening come to an end having a drink and a bite to eat at the Two Fish Amed resort bar right by the beach!
