This week in the North Gilis, Lombok we had Jacqui Join us from the UK. It was an absolute pleasure diving with her, we visited the sites called: “Turtle Heaven”, “Bounty Wreck”, “Shark point” and “Bat Fish Point”. Jacqui is a diver just like me, extra slow and hunting for macro. We knew that here in the north gili’s there is a lot to see from the bigger sea life to the small stuff but in those 2 days I was surprised to see such a vast amount of macro.
We found an astonishing amount of whip coral shrimp, peacock tail shrimp, squat shrimp, nudibranchs, squat lobster and pipe fish. When we focus we can find everything. We also saw a lot of Turtles, trevally, peacock mantis shrimp, crabs, huge cuttle fish and puffer fisher not forgetting our ever so cute yellow box fish.
A pure pleasure having the time to really hunt and see what the Gilis have to offer. We have also had a Family from Australia the past two days for fun diving and snorkelling where the main aim has been Turtle’s, lucky for us here in the Gilis that is a 95% chance so mission achieved.
The dive centre is coming along nicely; we have almost all the tiles in the pool now, our famous orange and blue paint on the main building with doors and windows, and all staff in Lombok wearing our awesome new T-shirts. We are ready and raring to go for the upcoming season!
Lovely to dive with you too – had a great time hunting for all those fantastic little critters 🙂 Will post the photos of them on FB as soon as I can.
Sad to be leaving Lombok and Bali today but hope to be back soon 🙂
