Nudibranch in Gili Air
The Gili Islands may not be world-renowned for muck diving, however, they are home to many species of nudibranch. “Nudibranchia” literally means “naked gills”, because many of these colourful critters wear their lungs on the outside in the form of feathery gills. Nudibranch aren’t just pretty, they actually derive their colours due to the food they ingest and also retain the poison of their prey as a defense against their own predators! The variety of nudibranch in the Gilis kept our fun divers, Nicholas and Ana, busy with their cameras this week. Get out those macro lenses! John and our new Divemaster Trainee, Sara, also had some fun challenges trying to capture these tiny guys on their GoPros.
As well as spotting nudibranch, we have had a busy week in Gili Air with our new Divemaster Trainee, Sara, joining us to finish her Divemaster program after spending two weeks at Two Fish Lembongan. It has been a pleasure to have her around and we invite you to stop by to be greeted by her warm smile and excited energy!

Sara isn’t the only new face around our dive centre; this week we also welcomed PADI Instructor, Komang, to our team! Komang brings his years of guiding and teaching experience in Bali to our team in Gili Air and he will be happy to take you fun diving or teach you one of the many PADI courses we offer!
This week Komang has joined the Two Fish Divers Gili Air Team – welcome onboard!
Sara organized our bi-weekly beach cleanup as part of her Divemaster training and what a turnout! Her enthusiasm drew in a large crowd and they cleaned up heaps of rubbish. Well done to all involved and we look forward to the next cleanup! Check out her efforts below…
