This week in Lembeh… What a great week for octopus, we’ve had a brilliant selection that was superbly titled by our guests as the Octopus Grand Slam!
We’ve seen Mimic Octopus (juveniles and adults), Wunderpus, Long Armed or White-V Octopus, Blue Ringed, Coconut, Algae and Starry Night varieties! Some other funky cephalopods made an appearance such as the Pygmy Squid, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Papuan Cuttlefish plus the beautiful Big Fin Reef Squid.
It wouldn’t be a week of diving in Lembeh without some appearances from the Frogfish either… We’ve seen Hairy, Shaggy, Painted, Clown, and some extra special sightings of Randall’s Frogfish and the Oscillated Frogfish 🙂 We’ve also had a great week with the Crustaceans with sightings of Harlequin Shrimp, Tiger Shrimp, Boxer Crabs, and the Little Green Shrimp. Other interesting beasties sighted this week include the Zebra Batfish, Severns and Pontohi Pygmy Seahorse, Lembeh Sea Dragons and a Stargazer during the day! An excellent week for critters!
We say farewell to our group from the UK today and we welcomed back Tom & Karen from the States who have visited us many, many times – This week we also had a treat of a fire on the beach to roast marshmallows to make the delicious S’Mores – yummy – thank you Tom & Karen 🙂
