Orangutan Crab in Nusa lembongan, Bali

The last week at Two Fish Lembongan we have been diving mostly the dive sites on the North of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, and it was just amazing. As we sail through low season at the moment there are fewer tourists on the island, and fewer divers underwater. Visibility is good, always around 20m+, and the water temperature is up to 27° Celsius or sometimes even warmer.

Orangutan Crab?

As we approach neap tides (the time when we have the mildest of currents) we can focus a lot more on macro life. One special macro critter that we find in different soft corals is the Orangutan Crab. We were so happy to point some of them out to Mikkel, Michaela, Ulrich and Michael last week. I am not sure if there is another underwater animal who’s named as fittingly as this one. The tiny orangutan crab with all of its bright red long hair is too funny to watch. If you’re lucky you will find more than one in a coral looking at you like a monkey as well! ?

It’s not just been the orangutan crab that we have been lucky to see – we have also been very lucky with big passing pelagics on the North Coast of Nusa Penida too. Last Saturday our Guest Michael from Germany as well as Bastien from Belgium and Mikkel from Denmark were lucky enough to turn around at the right time to see a 6-7m Whale Shark passing by, WOO HOO!! Life is good over here at Two Fish Divers Lembongan. We were really happy that some of our students could see this amazing big fish during their courses.

Abdul Haq and Dune finished their PADI Open Water Course with Instructor Ming and they did an awesome job. Tina from Denmark got refreshed by our Divemaster Sam and had some nice dives afterward, Mikkel and Michaela both nailed their PADI Rescue Diver with Tom. Of cause Mikkel had to finish his EFR Course before starting his PADI Rescue which was absolute fun, he had to manage lots of ketchup bleeding ?!! Last but not least Michael from Germany made two amazing Discover Scuba Dives with Tom. Lot’s of teaching going on at the moment at Two Fish Lembongan.
