Our previous PADI IDC Course (Instructor Course) in July 2014 was a great success (see Recent IDC on Bunaken has successful conclusion) and our next one starts on 23 Sept 2014. We thought that we would run a few articles to give prospective students an insight into our PADI IDC Course, and this first blog is all about our PADI IDC Course Director, Marlies Lang.

Marlies has been diving for more than 20 years and has been a PADI Course Director for more than 3 years. Her passion for diving itself, teaching people, the underwater world – and specially preserving it – has never faded.

PADI IDC Course around the world

She has been involved in running IDC’s in Egypt, Malaysia and North Sulawesi for the last 9 years, and has trained over 700 Instructor-level candidates. Her naturally enthusiastic personality spills across into her courses, making her a really fun Instructor. She is also a Course Director that will give you the best training possible to get you to that professional level that she expects in her candidates.

In her own words:

I remember back in my DM-times, when I was doing 2-3 dives every day for 6 weeks. On my day off I stood at the counter at around lunchtime asking who would like to go for a fun dive. My manager almost collapsed, told me to go home and have a break …

This passion hasn’t changed to this day, and I believe the secret to that is variety.

I hope to bring this passion across to you in our IDC, together with professionalism and a lot of fun. I also hope that I am able to give you some hands on information and hints for your journey through the diving world.
