After diving for 6 years and getting myself certified as a Rescue Diver in Mar 2016, I reckon it’s time to upgrade my skills and experience in diving and take my diving to the next level: Dive Master. I’ve never really had the time to do this before, so now that I’ve made my office job history, it make sense to start the next chapter of my life adventure with getting my Dive Master certification.
The next question is, where? After some thorough research and comparison against 3-4 different dive centers around the world, I’ve decided to do this with Two Fish, Nusa Lembongan.
Why? There were multiple consideration before deciding:
1. Living & surrounding environment
Having to do my rescue diver certification with Two Fish Lembongan made me fell in love with the island. Just the right amount of peace & quiet and a good amount of liveliness to keep things going.
2. Diving experience
With my minimal diving experience, I was blessed to be diving in the best places in the world; Sipadan, Redang, Phuket, Koh Phangan and of course, Bali. The “under-the-sea” experience at every one of these places are a beauty of their own but the experience in Bali was one of a kind. I guess the number of visit I’ve made to Bali kind of gives it away on how much I like the diving there. Beautiful corals, plentiful fishes, MANTA RAYS!!! but minus one point for the current…hahaha. Well, I am planning to upgrade my skills and it’s about time I get rid of my fear of diving in current. I guess that makes Bali the best place to do that.
3. People
I am going to be doing this for 1 month and with that, it would mean that I must spend it with people that I like. I’ve made many friends around the places I’ve dived in, but those people I’ve met from Two Fish Lembongan were somewhat different than those others places I’ve been. I felt a different level of sincerity that makes me wants to go back for a visit even if I’m not planning to do my Dive Master there. And yes, the instructors are extremely knowledgeable, well experience and to top it off, they are all very patient and are extremely helpful. Some are very sociable and some are not, but that’s just their individual personality. Though overall, they are all great.
4. Cost
This is the tricky part, I have places that’s offering me this experience for free and there are places that is cheaper (on the course) but everything else is more expensive. I’ve done a very lengthy calculation on this and worked out that the overall cost for doing it in Two Fish works out best for me.
After the lengthy decision making process and 2 weeks into the program. I still haven’t regret my decision a single bit. Still love the island (minus the mosquitoes) and loving it more everyday. Yes, got rid of my fear diving in current and am having the greatest dive experience ever. Who wouldn’t enjoy diving with Manta Rays (almost every trip to Manta Point) and Whale Shark (that was a surprising visit but one I will never forget).
