Week 1: PADI Divemaster Training in South Lombok
Malina and Luisa are our two German sisters who are taking their PADI Divemaster Training in South Lombok. Here’s their report of their first exciting week with Two Fish Divers!
“After a 40 hour journey from Germany we arrived completely exhausted at Two Fish Divers South Lombok. We were warmly welcomed and sent directly to the base. After the first night, in the nearby accommodation, we went diving the very next morning. Since we had bought a lot of new equipment, we had the chance to start getting used to it on the first day and ease back into diving before staring on our program. The following days we spent with our instructor Kate. Since then there has been something new to learn every dive!
We repeated our Rescue skills, practiced the skills for the courses, and conducted each other’s dives. We practiced prepping the guests’ gear and accompanied guests on their dives. We successfully floated, and swam and snorkeled 400 and 800 meters to get our first points in the watermanship and stamina test!
So far we have discovered that in many of the dive sites here you can see a lot of macro marine life and critters. In the beginning, you think there is not much to see, but you soon begin to discover more and more. You get an eye for it and soon we found the smallest of shrimps, nudibranches and we were most happy when we found our first Pygmy seahorse!
After the dives, we sat down to our paperwork. We wanted to read the first few chapters of our Divermater manual and write the first test as soon as possible. And yeah, chapters one to seven are done and the exam is passed!!! In addition, we have already begun to develop our emergency action plan – so far, so good and we feel as though we are making great progress on our PADI Divemaster Training in South Lombok.
When we are not studying, diving or spending time with the guests we are chilling out – or trying out the newly established chin-up bar (picture above) – we are definitely going to get fitter during our training! We’ve also been enjoying beautifying the dive center with watercolors of fish – and expanding our fish identification skills at the same time!”
Viel Spaß!!
