This week in Bunaken… Today is the last day of the PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course) and we are having two quite nervous and stressed out candidates polishing their skills to perfection in the pool this afternoon. Tomorrow the examinor from PADI arrives and the dreaded IE (Instructor Examination) kicks off with written exams.
Over the last two weeks Gwen and Mia have brushed up on their dive theory knowledge as well as doing classroom, confined water and open water presentations and perfecting their demonstration of dive and rescue skills. PADI Course Director Marlies Lang has together with Two Fishs’ own PADI Master Instructor Tina been teaching, guiding, coaching and encouraging them. To their help they have had Claire, normally found working as instructor in Tioman Islands, who has completed her PADI IDC Staff Instructor level during the IDC. Well done Claire!
During the IE all their gained knowledge and skills will be put to test. Keep your heads cool, ladies! Everybody’s fingers are crossed for you!
Apart from the IDC there have been a couple of other courses going on this week. Xie from China completed his PADI Scuba Diver course and Clara from Switzerland did a PADI Discover Scuba Diving dive. They were both very lucky and saw, among other things, school of big eye trevallies, tunas, black tip reef sharks, plenty of turtles, garden eels and big napoleon wrasses. Just shows that you don’t always need to go deep to see the good stuff – all these dives were 12 m or shallower!
