PADI TecRec instructor courses
Why become a PADI TecRec instructor?
Technical diving is gaining in popularity in many destinations around the world and being qualified to instructor level can really help you. As a PADI TecRec instructor you will stand out from the crowd when it comes to sending out your cv when you look for a job after your IDC.
When is it?
From 12 to 20 August, Jeff will be with us to teach the three different levels of PADI TecRec instructor courses: Tec Instructor, Tec Deep Instructor and Tec Sidemount Instructor.
How to secure a space?
Detailed pre-requisites vary for each course, but to start PADI TecRec instructor training, you need to be a renewed PADI Instructor as well as an Enriched Air and Deep Diver Speciality Instructor.
Following the course, and before applying for the actual instructor rating with PADI, candidates need to be qualified technical divers with a range of experience in staged decompression diving as well as having achieved the Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating on a recreational level.
How long will it take?
How long you will spend training as a technical diver depends on the course combination you choose and on your own skill level. These certifications are truly earned. Regular Tec Sidemount, Tec 40, 45 or 50 courses take on average four days each. Shorter durations may be possible for those already experienced. After the courses, technical fun dives help gain experience and achieve minimum dive numbers. The more experience you gain, the better!
How much will it cost?
Our diver-level training starts at €465 (IDR 7,000,000) for the Tec Sidemount course or €495 (IDR 7,450,000) for the Tec 40 course. This includes materials, equipment (wing, harness, backplate, back gas regulators, deco regulators and rigging), gases and certification.
Technical instructor training starts from €505 for the Tec Sidemount course, Tec Instructor training is available for €755 and Tec Deep Instructor training for €1,510.
Why Amed?
Amed is perfect for training to dive deeper and complete staged decompression. Right in front of our tech centre we have access to a house reef, which is perfect for completing skills and initial deeper dives. Reaching depths beyond 35 metres simply means a quick boat or car ride along the coast, where we have a choice of deeper sites, most of them with sloping reefs making decompression stops easy and interesting. There are a couple of wrecks as well!
Who is Jeff Glenn?
Jeff Glenn is a PADI Course Director, PADI TecRec Instructor Trainer and TDI Instructor Trainer to Advanced Trimix level. He has been an Instructor Trainer for over 6 years now and regularly conducts technical instructor programs throughout Asia and beyond. Travelling regularly to places like Mexico and Dahab, he has gained a well rounded approach to technical diving that can only be established through experiences in the different disciplines of Cave / Open Circuit Tec and Closed Circuit rebreather diving.
Not a tech diver yet?
Fear not, diver level training does not need to be crammed into one week. At our Amed base, we are offering diver level training with PADI Tec 40, 45 and 50 courses year-round, with flexible schedules. There’s no better time to start than right now!
The courses are taught by our Tech Manager and in-house tech instructor, Yvonne Press, who is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, Tec Deep Instructor and a TDI Instructor. Yvonne has spent the last six years as a dive professional. She started technical diving in 2011 in the cold(er) waters of the UK, before expanding her experience in Egypt, Thailand and Indonesia.
