The PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty
People protect what they care about and care about what they know and understand. Learning about the underwater world not only creates new ocean ambassadors who can raise their voices for the ocean, but will also add fulfillment to your dives. Lembeh is a perfect location to take the PADI Underwater Naturalist specialty course with crazy marine life everywhere and self-described ‘nature-nerd’ instructor Dan. Pictured is Conny recording symbiotic relationships during the final dive of her Underwater Naturalist training; just one of her 5 PADI specialty courses before continuing with her divemaster training split between Two Fish Lembeh and Two Fish Bunaken.
Understanding the natural world is an important skill for a future dive professional. This will serve Conny well as she goes on to guide her own dives and she is now armed with plenty of fun facts to share with the divers she will help to introduce to the underwater world during her PADI Divemaster training and as a dive professional.
The PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty is also a perfect opportunity to pay extra close attention to what we are finding on the dive. As usual, diving in Lembeh did not disappoint and during the Naturalist Specialty course we saw hairy frogfish, three nudibranch species we’ve yet to identify, ghost pipefish, a weedy rhinopia and octopuses amongst other things!
We also had a great night welcoming team Czech Republic for one day only! These guys visited between their Bunaken and Raja Ampat dive trips to find out what all the fuss is about with muck diving. They left impressed and we look forward to welcoming them back for a longer stay. It’s been another busy week at Two Fish Divers Lembeh as we count down towards Christmas. Will we see you next year?
