In the North Gilis, Lombok this week we have had an overload of various types of Eels. The white eyed moray eel’s have shown themselves the most. They don’t get particularly big but then again they are not shy either. Among the white eye morays we get here the giant moray eels, usually hanging out with the banded shrimps in a rock somewhere and the beautiful but ever so shy garden eels. All 3 we truly love to see, from the small garden eels to the big giant moray eels. I have noticed that almost all divers take a good 2-3 minutes just looking at them.
Other than the eels we have been seeing again a lot of Nudibranchs, Flatworms, shrimps, crabs, turtles and we had a fantastic dive where a white tip reef shark circled us for almost the whole dive. We spotted the shark around 15 minutes into our dive; our dive time in total was 65 minutes. He showed up and swam off then appeared again, swam off then again and again and again he kept coming back. Every time he came back he got that little bit closer and slower giving us divers a lovely chance to watch the beauty of a shark swimming about. A wonderful dive at the dive site we call Shark Point.
It has been a good week around the Gilis, North Lombok. Calm, clear and warm water with plenty to see!!
