This week diving in Bunaken… A nice school of barracudas was seen during a day trip to Mantehage island. Unfortunately only one group of divers saw them which proves again that you just need to be at the right place at the right time. However, luckily there were plenty of large game fish such as tunas and trevallies, as well as quite a few sharks to keep all the divers happy.

The wind that for the last weeks has given us quite choppy surface conditions, as well as the crazy currents and cold up-wellings, seems to have gone away and the sea is once again nice and flat and a comfortable 28 degrees. Several divers who has come here to Bunaken after spending a few days in Lembeh (who seem to be feeling a bit of a cold snap at the moment) have been very happy about the bath tub temperatures.

The week has produced a few new divers as well; Laurent and Frederic from France completed their PADI Open Water course with Dion. Laurent actually qualified as a diver several years ago, but hadn’t dived since so he decided to re-do it with Frederic who was very pleased with having higher score on the final exam than Laurent!

We are for sure noticing that it is high season with the resort fully booked and three boats out every day. This means that there are plenty of eyes out there to look for stuff! Divers have been treated to the normal abundance of turtles as well as sharks, playful eagle rays, napoleon wrasse, halimeda ghost pipefish (yes, they are still there!), pregnant ornate ghost pipefish, little frogfish during the night dives and much more!
