We had a rare week of not seeing Hammerheads at Belongas this week. Normally this would be a source of disappointment down here at Two Fish Divers South Lombok but the easy diving in mild currents, with clear waters full of schooling mobula rays and the occasional mola more than made up for it! Visiting instructor Nic spends so much time looking for Hammerheads in his home waters in Hawaii that he’s never seen schooling mobula rays before and we were more than happy to help him with that bucket list item!
Did you know that schooling mobula rays are one of the highlights of diving here? Hammerheads, passing mola, sharks and a plethora of reef fish and critters are, of course, other reasons to dive, but the sight of schooling mobula rays “flying” overhead is simply breathtaking!
Back in our house waters of Sekotong, we had firsts of our own too. Bill, Nicole and Violette discovered the underwater world in their PADI Open Water Courses AND Violette saw her first ghost pipefish. Jean Francois rediscovered diving again after 25 years absence!!.. and we hope to welcome Johannes and Beth back one day after they fell in love with the ocean on their PADI Discover Scuba Dives. We topped it all off with another completed PADI Divemaster course and the requisite snorkel test for Maud – we wish her the very best of luck with her PADI Instructor Development Course!
So would you like to dive with schooling mobula rays? Are you planning to take your next level of PADI Course and want to experience diving in one of the most pristine locations in Indonesia? Join us in South Lombok!
