This week in Lembongan… Sea Serpents have been slithering around the dive sites of Lembongan. With one banded sea snake being seen on almost every dive. These amazingly graceful creatures are no concern to divers, just as divers are in the water to swim around, so are these snakes.
Sea snakes and land snakes are pretty much the same thing. ‘Sea sneaks’ enter the water to look for food, to swim around and to cool off. When it comes afternoon time, these cold blooded creatures make their way on to land to soak up the sun before finding a place to curl up for the night. Sea snakes are air breathes so while they are hunting underwater, they do have to come up to the surface to breath. When you see a sea snake on the surface or swim down to the reef or up to the surface, chances are, it has just been catching its breath.
This week we have also been seeing; manta rays, molas, juvenile emperor angelfish, needle fish, cornet fish, sweet lips, napoleon wrasse, bamboo sharks, schooling batfish and banded shrimp.
