Things are getting sexy down here at Two Fish South Lombok Resort (AKA the Dive Farm) – and no we’re not just talking about Ipan the dive guide’s dance moves (see picture below!!). This week our guests had the joy of seeing Thor amboinensis (aka the Sexy Shrimp) doing it’s very special tushy wiggle on the seafloor. The tiny Sexy Shrimp are orange and white in colour and live in a symbiotic relationship with corals and sea anemones where they feed on mucus and mucus-trapped planktonic particles adhering to it, all without harming their host. Pay close attention to anemones on your next dive and you may well see a group of sexy shrimp arching their tails in the air and giving their distinctive wiggle to the music of the reef!
A new year brings new developments here for both the site and our divers. The equipment is given a good clean up and maintenance to keep it in top condition and the chill zone at the dive shop is being expanded with new outside seating, BBQ and wood-fired oven. There’s even some new plants to keep the more green-fingered of our staff happy 🙂
Despite the occasional rain shower in this so-called “rainy season” we’re still baking in 30-40c on land and 30c in the water, with some lovely dive conditions on our reefs in the Secret Gilis near Sekotong as well as easier currents on our Belongas dive sites further south.
Would you like to dive South Lombok with us? Sexy shrimp are not the only critters that inhabit our reefs. Our dive sites are packed with marine species big and small and our corals are among the most pristine in Indonesia!
