This week in Bunaken… We have been overrun with sharks on all of our dives this week, making it seem like we’re in the cheesy horror film of Sharknado (google this and you’ll see what we’re talking about). In one overhang section of Lekuan II, local guide Rolly and repeater guests Bob and Sandra from the States found three white tip sharks circling around. As well, there were many dawn dives on Sachiko, all with sightings of sharks on each dive.
Of course we also had the turtles out in force thrilling novice and experienced divers on Muka in front of Two Fish Divers. Instructor James, who is doing an internship with Two Fish Divers, took out Elva and Baek, two girls from Russia and the other from Korea, during their Discover Scuba Diving experience and had great fun watching the turtles swim beside them. They were both very lucky to have such excellent creatures underwater during their first real can dive.
Other than diving, Two Fish is making many improvements to the resort with a new relaxing area complete with bean bags and hammocks perfect for reading or watching the sun rise. Also the blue parrot cafe has been extended and remodelled with benches and curtains added to chill and swap stories of the day’s diving. If you thought the relaxing atmosphere couldn’t get better, it just has!
Our two divemaster trainees are also at work learning the ins and outs of what makes a dive centre run and how to look after divers underwater. We welcome back Holger from Lembeh who has a couple more weeks of his divemaster course here on Bunaken. Isabelle has also joined us this past week to start her amazing 6 week journey of the divemaster and speciality courses. Watch out for their blogs about their experiences!
We’re looking forward to all the excitement that the month of November has to offer underwater!
