Divemaster in Training Lily was fascinated by the Shrimpgobys and their Snapping Shrimp counterparts in Lembeh this week. The Shrimpgoby lives alongside a nearly blind Snapping Shrimp in a burrow and provides the vulnerable shrimp with the protection of “eyesight”. The bull-dozing shrimp provides the Shrimpgoby with a clean burrow as it spends its days cleaning out their home. Any time it leaves the burrow the Shrimp maintains physical contact with its watchful Shrimpgoby. At the first sign of danger, a single flick of the Shrimpgoby’s tail sends them both diving for safety back into their manicured burrow.

In other news, Summer is high season for Divemaster Training Courses at all of our Two Fish locations. Here’s a bit of what Connie has to say about her training time spent in the Strait: “After 3 weeks in Bunaken I came for my last 2 weeks of the DM course to Lembeh. And I absolutely love it here! In fact I extended to another week after my first dive. I could not believe the broad diversity of marine life that you can see here in just one dive. And I felt like a queen when arriving by boat: how often does it happen that your instructor stands waiting for you on the beach when you arrive. Scott made me feel extremely welcome!
I did my Deep Dive and Discover Scuba Diving Workshop last week. The DSD was an amazing experience. I took 2 staff members of Two Fish Lembeh on their 1st and 2nd dive. Celine and Yosua absolutely loved it and I realized once more the big responsibility you have as a dive master.
Furthermore, I have gotten to know a lot of muck diving experts here and have learned a lot from the Pro’s. Also, the sandy bottoms makes sure that you learn quickly how to control your buoyancy in a perfect manner to avoid a sand storm under water.
I enjoy the atmosphere and teaching style of Scott and Robyn a lot. And Two Fish Lembeh is a place where you just feel like family! I love it!”
