When many people in many places do many things, they can protect our nature and our underwater world.
As responsible divers, we have to be committed to our environment, preserve biodiversity and protect aquatic life. Even small changes could have a big impact in the long run. So we are all delighted that on our island Gili Air it is forbidden to drive around with a car or a scooter. Our guests in the dive center can reach us on foot or for further routes by bike. Although nothing is far away from each other here on the island, people even don’t use scooters for short distances, which is a common practice in Indonesia.
To reduce our impact on our environment we also use reusable water dispensers with cups instead of disposable plastic bottles. Besides that, we organize beach cleanups in which our guests often participate in order to clear our island of garbage, which is then brought to the professional disposal. Also, our fun divers from Denmark Mia, Frank and Luca were very happy to participate at the beach cleanup and were astonished afterward about the clean beach.
Every day our dive guides, instructors, boat crew and guests try to collect garbage with each dive and boat trip around the three islands. Like this, we also contribute to the cleanliness of our environment and our beautiful reefs around the Gilis in small steps and creating an impact in the long run. And all these small actions also support the preservation of the newly founded Marine Protected Area around the Gilis.
Do good and talk about it: Therefore we spread our actions as well as the results of the beach cleanups over our Social Media channels. So stay up to date, follow us and take part in the various small activities to keep our planet and the underwater world clean. We count on you!
