Finding Frogfish in Bunaken
Indonesia is famous for its frogfish encounters and Bunaken has its fair share of these camouflaged critters, especially giant frogfish which were spotted on a new site this week. Guide Geraldo got a tip-off that there were 2 new frogfish at the dive site Muka 2, right in front of Two Fish Divers resort on Pangalisang beach, and he managed to find them for guests Patricia and Manuel from Switzerland, who were diving Bunaken this week and doing the diving double by combining Two Fish Bunaken Resort and Two Fish Lembeh Resort for the best of walls and muck that North Sulawesi has offer. Also on the dive were Alastair from Canada and William from the Netherlands, diving with Kres and also getting super excited about the giant frogfish on our doorstep.
The divers predicted that the frogfish are a male and female, one of which they thought was pregnant, so we hope to see a spawning of juvenile frogfish soon, if they don’t all get eaten by predators as soon as they are born!
Alastair and William also brought their wives, Esther and Myrna, who both enjoyed some snorkeling around Bunaken, which is some of the best snorkelling in the world. Healthy corals; clear, warm water, huge diversity of fish, snorkel guides and lifejackets, all to make the safest and most fun snorkeling tours in Manado area. Joining the snorkel action, Marie and Dominik from Germany appreciated a day out on the boat snorkeling, instead of going from the shore which they also did right in front of Two Fish, as snorkeling from the boat also means easy pickups if there is current or you swim too far from the boat, and more importantly, tea, coffee and snacks! What more could you want?
For divers and snorkelers, this week has been spectacular as usual and we look forward to next week for more sunshine, snorkeling, fun dives and frogfish in Bunaken.
