Another week in South Lombok! This week on the dive farm we’ve had the pleasure of diving with return Two Fish guests Debbie and Barry who have now discovered the beautiful diving we have here in the “Secret Gilis“. There are discounts available for all our repeat customers across all Two Fish locations so it’s well worth looking into our other locations if you’ve dived with us before. It was also our pleasure welcoming Chiara to Lombok to enhance her dive training through the Advanced Open Water course and nail those crucial buoyancy skills 🙂
Eating Out in South Lombok
It’s no secret that staying properly fueled when diving is the key to a happy dive holiday. That’s why our surface intervals on our boat Dua Ikan Dua (Two Fish Two) come with complementary Lombok coffee, cookies and fruit! After diving though we also have a surprising range of food on offer in and around the dive farm.
Our onsite cooks, Johani and Rahim whip up tasty and filling local dishes such as meh goreng (fried noodles), nasi campur (mixed rice dish of the day with spicy chicken, seasonal vegetables, and crispy tempeh made from beans). They also do a mean pancake or banana and pineapple fritters for those craving a sweeter option as well as my personal favourite… roasted peanuts with chili and garlic that make the perfect snack to wash down with a cold Bintang. We also have a restaurant at the villas where even more authentic local dishes are prepared lovingly by Sohriah, the wife of the ever helpful and smiling manager, Bukran and here you can also find good comfort foods such as locally prepared pesto and pasta. Right next door to the dive farm is white stone lodge that offers “the last Aussie style burger before Dessert point” and is a favourite for surfers and divers alike… if you’re wondering what makes a burger an “Aussie burger”, imagine taking a regular burger made from imported beef then garnish it with beef bacon, beetroot and a fried egg to give you a fuel-rich stacked burger good for any surfer or diver ravenous from a days activities above or below the waves.
Then, we have Eco Lodge on Gili Asahan, our best kept / worst kept little secret hideaway in South Lombok. Not only is Gili Asahan a beautiful location in it’s own right but Eco lodge offers natural eco friendly accommodation where you can really escape from the stresses of the world in a picture-perfect paradise but…. it also has a genuine Italian kitchen… I wasn’t expecting that when I found myself relocating to this part of the world. It’s a very very happy experience to come back from a days diving and visit eco lodge for freshly made pasta, pizzas cooked to perfection in their wood-fired pizza oven and even have a glass or 3 of their Italian wine selection (a rarity in this part of the world). For those of you who like night dives we can offer a bonus service of ordering and picking up a pizza to take away from Eco Lodge to make the night a particularly memorable experience!
