A spotted eagle ray steals the show! Our advanced open water students Fi, Antoinette and Max were treated to a fabulous dive at Muka Kampung during which it was the spotted eagle ray that stole the show. Our instructor Ilse was the first one to spot this spotted flying giant and was able to get the divers attention.
As the eagle ray was swimming out in the blue, it took a little while until all divers had actually seen it, though a dark shadow in the distance still counts right?
Besides the eagle ray, our divers have spotted many black and white tip reef sharks, several hunting giant trevally, large moray eels, a school of bat fish, frog fish, shrimps, crabs and endless schools of pyramid butterfly fish.
We have had a mix of snorkeling and diving guests in the resort this week, which made for varied morning and afternoon trips selecting sites that were perfect for both snorkeling and diving. Most of our diving guests this week have proven their sense of adventure by going out for the early morning dive (dawn dive) resulting in sightings of barracudas, sharks and large tunas.
Our instructors continue to work hard to complete the scheduled courses. With Sam completing the open water diver course with Amber and Max, Ilse conducted the advanced open water course with Fi, Antoinette and Max and the nitrox course with Jerome. Helen and Tom have been busy assisting on courses as well as conducted discover scuba dives with Gladys and Yannick and Wataru and Yui!
Even our dive master Rosa was busy refreshing Thea in our swimming pool and ensuring she felt comfortable getting back into the water after a 5 year break from diving.
All in all another brilliant week here on Bunaken!
