Last week started with Dyas, she did her PADI Open Water Diver course at Two Fish Sanur. She rocked the theory on day one and in the pool, after some giggles, did all the skills without any trouble! At day one we visited Tulamben to do the first two open water dives, which is the perfect spot to start your dive career! The waves were a bit higher than usual but Dyas was very strong and kept standing in the surf! Underwater it was nice and calm to do the dive skills. We spotted beautiful sweetlips, garden eels and surprising enough a Napoleon Wrasse!
(picture above was not taken in Tulamben during the course, but a week before at Toyah Pakeh, Nusa Penida)
Mostly we see Bumphead Parrotfish around the wreck, so when it’s a Napoleon wrasse you have to blink twice to check if you didn’t see it wrong. But yes, this time we had a wrasse visit us! At the last day of the Open Water course, we visited Padang Bai and dived around the little shipwreck in Jepun, where we found a hawksbill turtle, and we dived in Turtle Neck. We also spotted a couple of sea moths, leafy scorpionfish, banded pipefish, and flounders. Dyas passed her course with flying colors! Congratulations!
This week also diving:
April dived with Steve, they explored the Jetty in Padang Bai and the next day she dived around the beautiful Nusa Penida. And we took the brand new divemaster Nick from Bunaken we dived around Nusa Penida! Because of high waves, the captain and guide decided to not dive at Manta Point and Crystal Bay. Better be safe! They dived at SD, Toyah Pakeh and Mangroves, which are all beautiful reef dive sites, really the best you can get!
A great week, with lots of giggles, sunny weather and funky wetsuit tan-lines. See you soon!
