This week in Bunaken, our IDC candidates spent some of their time off learning more about technical diving. We’ve not convinced all of them to go to the dark side just yet, though. In the meantime, return guests Ferdy & Sue enjoyed getting back into diving and fun divers Jane & Hiroka spent their dive accompanied by three Eagle Rays!
It’s been a busy week in our Bunaken resort! Ferdy from Singapore returned to us after a nine-year break from diving. Together with Sue, he started off with a refresher before getting into the ocean and spending the next few days completing 11 dives. Both were impressed with dive guide Vandy’s eyes and commented on his knowledge of just knowing exactly where to look for small crabs and shrimp.
Hiroka and Jane were more impressed by an encounter with three eagle rays this morning. While Jane is off to explore more of Indonesia, Hiroka will visit our sister resort in Lembeh to get her fill of ‘small stuff’.
Our hard-working IDC candidates deserved a break a couple of days ago, so we decided to lure them away to the dark side of technical diving. Gathered around the pool of our resort, Roya, Simon, Fred and Prema (behind the camera) were joined by Dive-Careers.com Course Director Marie to find out a little more about Sidemount configuration and Twinset diving.
After a bit of a chat it was time for them to try the technical diving equipment for themselves – check out our technical diving Facebook page, Two Fish Tech, for more pictures in the next day or so.
At the same time, tech course student Leo was still concentrating on his books as he worked his way through the theory involved in conducting decompression dives. Two more skills dives are on the cards for tomorrow, and then it’s off to do some deeper dives.
Over the next week, keep your fingers crossed for our IDC candidates who will be completing their Instructor Exam !
