The challenge and the beauty of becoming a DiveMaster:
Thinking about making diving my life, and newly certified PADI rescue diver after my week in Lembeh. I’m here in Bunaken to continue my courses with Two Fish.
But it’s a challenge to gain a professional level enabling you to work in the scuba diving world. I’ve been spending the week practicing the basic scuba skills, developing my knowledge and having water skills assessment: arf … Exhausting! Fortunately, our instructors, Sam & Ilse, are always here for us and care for details. But I’m still far from their professionalism.
I’ve been assisting to an Open water course (OWC) yesterday. As most of the students in OWC, Ditte have trouble to get a good buoyancy. Ilse is repeating the exercise, she emphasizes critical attributes and makes slow pace. I’m trying to help, making the exercise with our student too: but I’m sure she will make it soon.
And this morning, after struggling in the swimming pool, I watch my Open Water buddy getting better in the sea using our advice and her experience. She understands she begin to get it, and look at me, smiling, doing the sign “ok”!
I’m glad I’ve been able to help.
Few meters behind, A turtle is looking at me, swimming against the slight tide, going to the surface following the beautiful coral wall. Water temperature is around 29°C.
I’m here … in the dive world.
