Usually at this time of year the water begins to get colder and the nutrient rich currents bring to Lembongan megafauna like the Mola Ramsayi. This week the Mola was seen by our guests Alex and Richard, who were here diving with us for 5 days, and on their last day of diving they were in luck finding one!
But it’s not only the big creatures that amaze us, mimicking a small piece of sea grass, our guides found some ghost pipe fish!
The ghost pipefish are no longer than 15 centimetres and float near motionlessly, with the mouth facing downwards, around a background that makes them nearly impossible to see. They feed on tiny crustaceans, sucked inside through their long snout. They live in open waters except during breeding, when they find a coral reef or muddy bottom, changing color and shape to minimize visibility.
Also this week, congratulations to our guide in training Sam, who completed his EFR course with Didier, well done Sam, now to prepare for the Rescue Course! And a big thank you to Lee, Chen and Coco who spent 3 days of wonderful drift diving with us, and were so happy to have their final dive surrounded by Mantas!
