Well what a few weeks it has been, having the pleasure to assist and teach various courses during our instructor internship with Two Fish.
We started out in Bunaken (if you love turtles this is the place to be!) where we jumped straight into a Nitrox and Deep specialty with guest Daniel. A great introduction to both diving and non-diving courses that will help him on his current liveaboard adventure.
Ben had the opportunity to teach DSD’s with the eye on them continuing their training toward Open Water diving and his students Albert and Cornelius proved to be naturals in the water. They have finished confined dive 1 and open water dive 1 and will be continuing training in the next few days to become certified Open Water Divers. He also certified our DMT’s for their Night Dive Specialty and they learnt about the proper techniques and precautions when diving in the dark.
Nicole packed her bags and headed over to Lembeh where the lovely Cheah family were spending their holiday diving and had the chance to teach eldest daughter Rachel an Open Water Course. The house reef is perfect for confined training and they even saw stingrays, puffer fish and lots of damsel fish varieties while practicing skills.
The Mawali wreck is not a commonly dived site in Lembeh but Dive Master Trainees Brent and Jackie were keen to do a Wreck Specialty so we were happy to oblige! The wreck is very large and while doing the course we saw a white tip reef shark, large schools of inquisitive batfish and several flatworms and nudibranch that were a pleasure to photograph.
Shortly after we returned to Bunaken where Nicole is currently finishing a Rescue Diver course with the help of Markus, a wildly imaginative and convincing “victim”! From the EFR course and onwards there has been lots of laughs which has made learning fun and interactive.
Ben is building on his DSD experience with two days back to back training and the guests are loving their first interaction with the great underwater world. We can’t wait to see what’s next, but we are honoured to be a part of a great team with such amazing resort locations and looking forward to the next student who walks through the door!
It is an amazing way to build up our experience as instructors!
Yours,
Nicole & Ben
