A baby whale shark spotted by a group of very lucky divers this week in Bunaken! To see a whale shark is not common in this area though it’s not the first time that these giants of the sea are seen around the beautiful waters of Bunaken. No one was expecting this chance encounter when the Two Fish boat set sail to Mike’s Point.
One of the most beautiful dive sites around the island is made up of a wide slope and a gorgeous wall covered with hard and soft corals, gorgonians and sponges. On the very same day on the other side of the island, it was reported that a mola-mola was enjoying a morning swim in front of the village. It’s been a very exciting week for divers in Bunaken!
Our instructors Ilse and Sam and our intern instructor Tom have also been very busy this week. Ilse has taught Andy from Switzerland his open water diver course and Bianca, his girlfriend joined for a discover SCUBA dive. Jeremy and Jan completed their Advanced open water courses and Jill, Boy and Michelle completed their first ever dive with Ilse as well.
Tom and Sam took Peter, Aleida, Sandro and Francisco for their discover SCUBA dive and guess what…they managed to fit in an extra dive! Currently Tom is teaching Charly; Sam and Helen our latest instructor intern from Finland are teaching Max and Amber their open water diver course. It is safe to say that they have been busy though it’s been rewarding seeing our students turn into divers!
We have had a very international week at the resort with guests from Spain, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, New Zealand, Singapore and Italy. This has made for some excellent dinner conversations and has impacted the atmosphere around the resort and on the boat!! All in all, another fabulous week over here on Bunaken island. The sun is shining, the sea is glassy and the diving is out of this world!!
