Diving Candidasa is always full of surprises; from Mola-molas and sharks to tunas and giant trevally’s, everything is possible. Today we found white tip reef sharks at Gili Mimpang, resting on the sandy bottom area. Mimpang is also full of corals and beautiful reef fish.
After Gili Mimpang we went to Gili Tepekong where we found a needle cuttlefish and a large Hawksbill turtle. The sharks in the cavern at Tepekong swam away upon our arrival so we only got a glimpse of them when they swam away.
Yesterday we dived Padang Bai, starting at the Jetty with frogfish, pipefish, scorpionfish and lots of schooling fish around the jetty. The visibility was perfect yesterday at the Jetty because of the inflow of fresh water, though a bit chilly at 22°C! Our second dive was in Turtle Neck with lovely soft corals and reef fish. For Joe, Padang Bai was the perfect place to start off his dive holiday!
We also dived in Nusa Penida this week with Eleanor, in the crystal clear waters of Crystal Bay and hunting for Manta Rays at Manta Point. With turtles, scorpionfish, snake eels, big puffers and a Manta Ray we had a successful and adventurous day.
