The new year brings about many changes in people. It encourages you to make resolutions and plans for the next year. A lot of people struggle to think of a good new years resolution so I will make it easy for you. Muck diving in Lembeh.
If you have never been muck diving before then there is no better time to start making your plan! Maybe your new year resolution includes getting fit, or trying new experiences. Muck diving over in the Lembeh Strait can help with both of those things!
Scuba Diving is a low intensity exercise, especially when muck diving. You move around very slowly over the sandy sea bed, looking for the weird and wonderful creatures hidden in the sand. But make no mistake, while you might not feel physically tired or out of breath, your body is working very hard internally. It is estimated that you burn between 300-600 calories in an hour on a nice leisurely dive in temperate water. That is the same as going for a gentle hike or jogging for the same length of time.
I think we can all agree that we’d rather burn these calories diving rather than jogging! You can do up to 4 dives a day, which means you could burn over 2000 calories just floating under the water! What better way to increase your fitness than on a tropical island, swimming with fish!?
Wanting to try new experiences? Then muck diving is the activity for you! If you have never been muck diving then you will not truly understand what strange and alien creatures live in our oceans. Muck diving is the perfect way to experience these fantastic animals up close in their natural habitat. Frogfish, octopus, squid, cuttlefish, seahorses shrimps and crabs and everything else in between await your eagle eyes. There will be many times you think “what on Earth is that!?” There truly is nothing like it.
Perhaps you want to travel more in 2019? Lembeh offers a great starting point. Not only do you get the wonders of muck diving, but you also have the option of Bunaken and also on land you have the fantastic Tangkoko National Park. Northern Sualwesi doesn’t just have fantastic animals under the water. The jungle animals you can find in Tangkoko include the incredibly small but special Tarsir. As well has the other monkeys and birds on show!
With easy connections from Manado to major airports around Asia, there is no excuse why you shouldn’t try Muck Diving in Lembeh!
Happy New Year!
