WHEN AND HOW CAN I TRAVEL TO INDONESIA UNDER COVID?

This is the latest COVID Information For Indonesia that we have obtained from the government.

Visa Situation

At the moment Indonesia is not issuing tourist visas, and it is not clear when this may happen. . A planned August reopening for Bali was postponed, but the plan is currently being proposed as a November opening.

Business and social visas are now available, which will allow you into the country for 60 days. During July and August only residents / work permit holders were allowed in, but as of 15th September both business and social visa holders may enter Indonesia.

International Flight Arrivals

At the moment all inbound flights arrive in Jakarta and Manado. As of October 5th it was announced that Bali Ngurah Rai airport will reopen to international flights from selected nations on October 14th. Case numbers in Bali and Java have declined rapidly, while vaccinations have continued – 75% of the Bali population has had 1 shot and over 60% both shots for example.

Tests & Quarantine

At the moment all incoming passengers must show a negative PCR test to board their flights and be fully vaccinated. You will then need to spend 8 days in a govt-sanctioned quarantine hotel (in your room) and you will have a PCR test on day 2, day 5 and day 8 – once they all come back clear you can continue your journey. Costs are borne by the passenger but are normally around 5-7 million IDR (4-500USD), including all meals. There are luxury hotel options available at a higher price.

Please note that the PCR/quarantine requirements are applicable even if you are vaccinated x2. We hope that this situation will change, and some differentiation is expected to be part of the plan to open up the country to tourists again.
