Southeast Asia's Most Famous Wreck — and Much More

Amed gives easy access to the USAT Liberty — Southeast Asia’s most famous wreck dive, a short drive up the coast in Tulamben — but it is also where Bali slows down and the diving gets personal. No crowds, no traffic, no rush. Just a quiet stretch of East Bali coastline with volcanic black sand beaches, one of Asia’s most famous shipwrecks a short drive away, and a house reef you can walk into from shore.

The diving is varied, accessible, and consistently excellent. The USAT Liberty wreck in Tulamben. The Japanese Shipwreck covered in coral. Our house reef for night dives and training. Macro critters on black sand slopes that photographers fly across the world to shoot. All within 30 minutes of the dive centre.

Amed is a genuine holiday destination too — beautiful coastline, quiet beaches, excellent restaurants (including Mexican, French, vegan and Thai as well as many local options), Tirta Gangga water palace nearby. Non-diving partners aren’t stuck in a dive shop all day.

This Location is Perfect For

Wreck & Macro Divers

The USAT Liberty is one of Asia's most famous wreck dives — 25 minutes from the centre, shore entry, 5–30m depth. Black sand slopes are a macro photographer's dream. Night dives on the house reef with mandarinfish and hunting octopus.

Course Divers

PADI 5-Star IDC Centre — we teach more divers here than at any other Two Fish location. From your first breath underwater to Divemaster and Instructor certifications. Our Course Director is based here.

Families & First-Timers

Calm warm water, shore diving, and a house reef at the centre. Discover Scuba runs daily. Non-diving partners have beaches, restaurants, and Tirta Gangga to explore. A real holiday, not just a dive trip.

Why Two Fish in Amed

Two Fish Divers has been in Amed since 2012 — we know these sites, these currents, and these critters better than anyone.

What being based here means for your diving:

  • Shore diving on demand. Our house reef is right there. Night dives, training dives, or a casual afternoon dive — no boat schedule to work around.
  • Small groups, always. Max 4 divers per guide. On the Liberty wreck, that means you’re not fighting 20 other divers for a photo of the pygmy seahorse.
  • The full PADI pathway. Open Water to Instructor, all taught here. Our Course Director and GoPro programme are Amed-based.
  • Real accommodation packages. Stay+dive bundles from IDR 3,200,000 — one booking, one price, no logistics.

25 years in Indonesia. PADI 5-Star IDC Centre. Max 4 divers per guide.

Day 3

House Reef & Macro

Getting Here

2.5–3 hours from Bali airport via East Bali coastal road. We arrange transfers from airport, South Bali, or Nusa Penida.

Plan your journey →

Add Penida — The Bali Explorer Safari

Amed is calm shore diving — the famous Liberty wreck, easy macro reefs, and sunrise dives straight off the beach. Nusa Penida, a short hop south, is the polar opposite: drift dives along the manta cleaning stations, mola mola in season, and big-water diving with proper currents. The contrast between the two is one of Bali’s great combinations.

Our Bali Explorer Safari packages combine both locations — 3 nights Amed + 4 nights Penida, with all transfers included.

Add Manado — Fly Bali → Manado and continue with the walls and turtles of Bunaken, the muck diving of Lembeh, or both. We coordinate the full trip across locations.

Your loyalty points carry across all 5 locations. Every 10 dives across our centers earns you 10pts that you can redeem for a free dive at any Two Fish centre.

Everything you need to know about Amed to help you book

Amed is a year-round destination. Water is warmest April–November (27–30°C) with generally good visibility. December–March brings occasional rain but water stays warm and dive sites are less crowded. The Liberty wreck is diveable every day of the year.
The shallowest part of the wreck is at 5 metres and visible while snorkelling. To dive it properly, you need minimum PADI Open Water certification. We run Open Water courses in Amed starting from IDR 5,850,000 — your training dives happen on the reef, so you're seeing real marine life from day one.
About 25 minutes by road. We provide transport to Tulamben as part of every dive trip. The wreck is a shore entry — no boat needed. Walk in from the beach, swim out, and descend onto the wreck.
Excellent. Calm, warm water, shore diving, and a house reef right at the dive centre. We teach more beginners in Amed than at any other location. Our Discover Scuba Diving (try dive) programme runs daily.
Yes — Amed is our primary professional training base. Our GoPro programme runs Divemaster internships, IDC preparation, and the full IDC with our on-site Instructors & Course Director.
From budget homestays (IDR 400,000/night) to the Amed Beach Resort (IDR 650,000/night). Both include breakfast and are within walking distance of the dive centre. We bundle accommodation with diving in our packages.
Absolutely. The most popular combination is Amed + Nusa Penida (wreck and macro diving followed by manta rays and mola mola). We also connect to Bunaken and Lembeh in North Sulawesi for guests with more time.
Yes — snorkelling (the Liberty wreck is visible from the surface), beach walks, local restaurants, Tirta Gangga water palace (30 minutes), Mount Agung sunrise treks, and the general peace and beauty of East Bali. Non-diving partners have plenty to enjoy.
